We Need Your Help

New Amsterdam is a non-profit organization that serves artists and audiences by helping to bring incredible new music into the world, and to help bring that music to the people who love it. NewAm performs a wide variety of functions: presenting, curation, advocacy, and producing for artists and their projects. Our staff and directors are a tiny team of hardworking artists ourselves who are deeply committed to the longevity and well-being of our field and the success of our artists.

This has been a year of tremendous growth across the full breadth of our organization. We successfully launched the pre-premiere of Judd Greenstein’s first fully-staged opera, A Marvelous Order, at Williams College. We expanded our national partnerships through projects like Daniel Wohl’s Holographic, out this year on New Amsterdam Records, which was created in collaboration with organizations like the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Liquid Music in Minnesota, the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and MASS MoCA. We initiated multi-year curatorial partnerships with Art of Élan in San Diego and Grace Farms in Connecticut, while continuing to serve as an associate presenter of Minnesota’s Liquid Music, as well as maintaining a network of advisory and consulting relationships around the country and the world. In New York, we were an inaugural artist-in-residence at Williamsburg’s National Sawdust, and continued our thriving, ongoing relationship with the Kaufman Music Center’s Ecstatic Music Festival at Merkin Hall, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s River to River Festival, which this year featured Olga Bell’s Krai and A Far Cry.

These are just some of this year’s highlights.

As we’re looking ahead into next year’s 10-year anniversary, we hope you’ll partner with us in planting the seeds for an incredible 10th year. We have some huge new partnerships and collaborations in store that will even more deeply enable our mission of serving 21st-century musical artists.

If you are committed to breathtaking art and music that defies traditional genre bounds, please consider a contribution to New Amsterdam to support our future projects.
